First and foremost - VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE
Many Americans fought and even gave up their lives for the right to vote, and the most important elections to your life are arguably the local ones! If you want to see change, be part of that change. I will be in Texas during voting and you better believe I am going to exercise my right!
Sorry it’s been so long friends, this month has been increible!
Just a couple more days over here in The Netherlands. Jack Hustinx put together the most amazing musicians for me to record this new album (we are already in the mixing phase), and I’m not sure I could be more happy with it. I have returned once again to more of a blues and roots inspired album, with the vast majority of the tunes on my signature electric lap steel (“the plank”) and some electric guitar on a handful of tunes. Two songs took on a more “back porch” feel and I played my recently commissioned “Red Hawk” acoustic lap steel (you can learn more at maple-leaf-guitars.de ) You’ll be hearing more about this soon. We recorded 14 new songs written and co-written by me and friends you already know and love (one with Michael O’Connor and one with Gabriel Rhodes). There is already a bit of a buzz over here I am hoping to build from. Jack’s connections in the “Be-Ne-Lux” region (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) have been invaluable with a potential record label to partner with over here, some booking agents, and even a few notable radio DJ’s came by the studio to check out what was going on.
One of the greatest things about rolling the dice on a new album is you’ll never know what you get (yeah, like a box of chocolates y’all). These musicians are world class — world class I tell you. The word for me that most describes these recording sessions is joy. We had so much friggin’ fun! I cannot wait for you to hear it!
My plan is to release it first in The Netherlands, then more out from there and eventually in Canada and The U.S. But who knows these days?
Here’s a pic from the session, and if you would like to see (and hear) more before it comes out, come and join my patreon page at $5 a month or more.

TEXAS - here I come.
I know many of you are sad there will be no “Dr. Plankenstein’s Halloween Horror Show” this year, but we could not work it out at a time that worked for everyone. We have already booked next year at The Saxon Pub since Halloween will be on a Friday in 2025.
But a band gig at The Saxon Pub, 2 shows with The Resentments, 2 shows with Michael O’Connor (one at Gruene Hall and one at House of Rock in Corpus), a private party for my friend Tony Trevino and The Real Misery Loves Co., Rawhide Trail House Concert, Monday Night Supper Club, The Rockport Songwriter Festival, Camp St. Cafe in Crockett, Opening Bell in Dallas - what am I forgetting? The Purple Barn in Wimberley too! You can find ALL my dates on my website and on my Bandsintown page.
I cannot wait to see all of you!
The year to come.
I’ll have one more mini tour in early December with Michael O’Connor, then be heading back behind the maple curtain for the holidays.
Hawaii, Folk Alliance in Montreal, headlining a night at the Moccasin Creek Festival, Red Lodge and Livingston Songwriter Festivals, Vancouver Island gigs in winter and summer, and hopefully a new album and European release tour and so much more to come in 2025. I can’t wait to share all this new music with all of you.
Thank you for making this charmed life possible for me,
Plank

Plank at the Purple Barn, Wimberley, TX
A multi-instrumentalist and slide guitar virtuoso, be it studio work or performing as part of a band, Jeff has been about as in-demand as any musician can be. Still, after roughly twenty years shining for other artists, Jeff cut the cord and transitioned from sideman to solo artist. Plankenhorn combines a broad array of genres from soulful rock and folk to blues, country and bluegrass all with his skilled take on the Plank, his laptop steel.
A $25 donation is requested by the artist. BYOB and a folding chair.
